How to Choose a Model-Kit Store in Japan
The largest or most famous store is not automatically the best stop for your trip.
Build a target list
- Separate must-have kits from items you would buy only at a good price.
- Record grade, scale, exact edition and acceptable alternatives.
- Note whether you care about limited packaging, clear color or event-only versions.
Score the trip
Compare target relevance, freshness of the stock signal, travel time, opening constraints and nearby alternatives. A distant store with one uncertain item may be a worse choice than a convenient area with several hobby shops.
Use a fallback plan
Choose one primary stop and one secondary option. Recheck official information before leaving, set a time limit for the search and avoid changing an entire travel day around unconfirmed inventory.
